The European Central Bank and Treasurium.com have printed Georgia’s first 8,000 Euro commemorative banknote, dedicated to the 8,000-year constant tradition of Georgian winemaking!
The banknote features both a qvevri (traditional Georgian wine vessel) and Alaverdi Monastery, depicted as historical symbols associated with Georgian wine and vineyards. The connection between the monastery and Georgian winemaking is represented by the 11th-century historic wine cellar at Alaverdi, restored by Badagoni, where Badagoni’s qvevri wines are produced, upholding the highest standards of tradition and quality.
